The incumbent is responsible for producing the integrated technology design and specifications at a detailed level. This includes, defining test plans from an integrated perspective, executing the tests, contributing to the deployment plan and ensuring the successful installation of the integrated technologies. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating and guiding the technology build team, including system administrators and software administrators.

This role is specifically for the ITIM Consolidation project where we plan on migrating OMI/OBM into SCOM and plugging SCOM to ServiceNow.

 

  • Contribute to the technical solution architecture by identifying the existing capabilities available by the technologies in place versus the need for the acquisition of new technologies;
  • Translate the technical solution architecture into a detailed infrastructure and technology components design. Ensure the tight integration of all the components;
  • Define infrastructure and technology installation specifications including monitoring, high availability, virtualization, storage, backup and disaster recovery;
  • Work in collaboration with the project manager to define work breakdown structure, estimate project effort and project schedule;
  • Guide the system administrators, software administrators, database administrators, data centre facility administrator and/or telecom integrators through the proposed technical design and specifications. Address any potential design or assist them in supporting issues;
  • Produce test plans to test all infrastructure and technologies identified in the technical design. Conduct tests and log results. Determine appropriate resolution/solution through root-cause analysis and impact analysis;
  • Provide required hardware/software (Define/Order/Install);
  • Implement the technology and apply standards (e.g., SOX, security, project methodology, technology standards);
  • Assist the application team in installing and integrating the application with the infrastructure;
  • Define the stabilization and knowledge transfer plans. Ensure that the transfer to the support teams has been successful;
  • Define cut-over plan and execute;
  • Be a champion to the peer designers in the adoption of proper detailed practices and development to meet Security, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety guiding principles;
  • Lead power user groups on related technologies, and drive sustainable user adoption program;
  • Understand IT and OT domains in order to develop a data acquisition strategy tailored to each domain;
  • Conduct data acquisition assessment and identify requirements for the proposed solutions;
  • Build data acquisition strategy and design in alignment with the end-to-end flow of the data;
  • Conduct impact assessments for proposed design to help with delivery planning, capacity, license, bandwidth;
  • Provide, or verify, work estimates;
  • Document data acquisition designs to show and explain the data sources, protocols and flow across the end-to-end observability platforms;
  • Document detailed implementation plan to be handed over to the integration team;
  • Ensure compliance with and participate in the development and execution of testing strategies, test plans, and test procedures to validate that the solution is correctly implemented.

Does this sound like you?
  • Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience;
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in an enterprise technical support environment (Windows system administration);
  • Extensive experience in an ITIL environment with a good service-oriented mindset;
  • Experience with solution design and architecture;
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft SCOM product, including design, management and implementation experience;
  • Strong knowledge of Data Center computing components and how to measure their availability and performance (OS/Infra/Middleware and Databases/Network);
  • Good knowledge of common digital platforms such as Azure, GCP, Kinvey, Apigee, Anthos, and MuleSoft, and how to monitor them;
  • Strong experience with an ITSM tool such as ServiceNow and knowledge of how to integrate events;
  • Strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation;
  • Understanding of virtualization concepts and virtual system administration;
  • Familiarity with networking concepts including VIPs, NAT, DNS, and tools (ping, tracert, TraceMON, Wireshark, etc.);
  • Strong organization and time management skills;
  • Good problem solving mindset, and comfortable with uncertainty.
  • Continuous learning mindset;
  • Ability to effectively communicate;
  • Understanding of load balancing, geo-redundancy, CDN and VPN technologies (preferred);
  • The following qualifications are assets:
    • Knowledge of Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Stackdriver and ServiceNow;
    • Experience working with Agile/DevOps, continuous integration and deployment;
    • Experience in a managed service environment;
    • French language skills.
