Quebec City, April 21, 2016 – As part of his now-famous barbecue, Quebec City mayor Régis Labeaume will take on Paul Raymond, President and CEO of Alithya, in what promises to be a memorable—and delicious—battle of chefs! The mayor of Quebec City says he is certain to win over the dynamic President of the IT consulting firm, but it will ultimately be up to the guests to decide with their palates. The real winner will in fact be YWCA Québec, the cause supported through this fundraising event to be held on Monday, June 13, in the gardens of Le Bonne Entente hotel.

“I’m really pleased to be lending a hand with the mayor’s barbecue as honorary co-chair and to be supporting YWCA Québec in continuing to promote women's contribution to our society,” noted Paul Raymond, President of Alithya. “Our firm shares the values of YWCA Québec, and we’re proud to provide a diverse work environment that values the contribution of all our professionals. And since Alithya encourages all talents, I’m confident that my culinary talent will come out on top!”

Mayor Régis Labeaume says he is ready to take up his cooking implements and face down his opponent, confident in his own victory for a great cause. “YWCA Québec is at a turning point and the challenges it will face in the coming years are enormous. This event gives us an opportunity to support the organization in its social and community activities for women, and everyone is invited to participate.”

YWCA Québec
YWCA Québec has launched a major renovation and expansion project expected to cost $17.6 million, to which the city is contributing $6 million. This contribution will go toward construction of a new sports and recreation building.

“We are very grateful to be receiving the proceeds from the mayor's barbecue and for the city’s support of the YWCA, which is a great cause. Every year, 280 women seek shelter at the YWCA for a range of reasons. Whatever these reasons may be, our team is there to welcome them, day or night, 365 days a year,” explained Marie-France Poulin, President of YWCA Québec. “That's why fundraising by the mayor’s barbecue is critical to the day-to-day work of our teams.”

Clearly an initiative worth fighting for! May the best chef win ... and may the proceeds to the YWCA be generous enough to support the organization’s vital work in Quebec City!
