If more dashboards/reporting capabilities in your Oracle Cloud environment are on your holiday wish list, this post will provide insight into enhanced reporting and dashboards.

Pies aren’t just for the dessert table this year. Create a dashboard with a pie chart to see how employees or suppliers are measuring up. If pie-charts aren’t your thing, maybe the bar is?  Bar graphs can visually show the count of POs by day, length of service diversity for employees, or payables invoice trends. With bright colors and meaningful numbers, dashboards are sure to satisfy everyone - even "Team Grinch!"

Fulfilling Your Wish List for the Office.

The CEO is constantly thinking of her #1 wish...a diamond with lots of sparkle…I mean a shiny new dashboard. Well, Oracle Cloud includes several powerful out-of-the-box dashboards. Additionally, Alithya can teach your business how to create custom dashboards to meet your exact specifications and needs.

How great would it be to see your top 5 reports immediately after logging in? Well these reports can easily be added to your homepage!

Seeded Dashboards

Go to the Dashboards menu on your OTBI screen.

Example Dashboard: Human Capital Management > Line Manager Dashboard

Custom Dashboards

Looking to build a new dashboard from scratch? Dashboards are created from OTBI reports. It is likely that if an OTBI report is created and added to a dashboard, a prompt for the report may need to be created. The report will need to have a filter for the field on the prompt called is prompted. Take note that items for a dashboard cannot be saved in “My Folder.”

To create a dashboard prompt, click New > Dashboard Prompt. Use the same subject area as the report. Click the green "plus" sign to add a column prompt. Select the field for the prompt. Once complete, save the dashboard prompt.

To Build the Dashboard

Click New > Dashboard.

Find the folder where the report and prompt are saved. Drag the content to the large area to the right and save the changes. Then you can select “Run” in the top right of your screen to view the dashboards.

Infotiles/Infolets

Infotiles can be added to the homepages to see KPIs at a glance.

To start, a sandbox needs to be created using the Application Administrator role.  When creating the sandbox, be sure that page composer is selected. Once in the sandbox, click the logged in user to the top right and select edit pages. Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage. There is a section called "Analytics." Click on the three sheets of paper to the top right to add a new infolet.

Once the infolet box is visible. click on the orange box in the top right of the infolet, then Edit Content. Find the report that was saved in Reports and Analytics > BIPresentationServer. Once the report is found, click Open.

Add the compounded view.

Once the Infolet is visible, you can click “Save” to save the changes and publish the sandbox.
