Panier Bleu is now a transactional website that helps local businesses harness the power of e-commerce. The initiative fosters business sustainability across the province by encouraging Québec consumers to opt for local products and retailers. Inspired by the platform’s cooperative spirit, Alithya is proud to have contributed to promote and expand Panier Bleu.
A partnership that’s making waves
A company with roots in Québec, Alithya is committed to helping the local economy prosper. And just like Panier Bleu, we want to give back to the community through cooperation and creativity. So it’s no surprise that a relationship based an innovation quickly formed between our two organizations.
The project’s instigators wanted to capitalize on Québec’s expertise to build an ethical local marketplace by partnering with trusted IT and logistics companies. For this reason, they asked us to develop data management and valuation capabilities to personalize consumer communications and optimize content management.
A champion crew
With Guillaume Paquin at the helm, our Data and Analytics practice pulled together to create a strategic roadmap for Panier Bleu. The crew developed the necessary cloud-based technology ecosystem, which included a data lake and a self-service data warehouse. It added significant value by integrating Panier Bleu’s data into the ecosystem Alithya developed to store and prepare data for analysis and to develop automated analytics involved in making informed operational decisions.
In concrete terms, our storage approach gives Panier Bleu retailers the ability to extract their data, produce automated analytics and run new queries. The result is more in-depth analytics that are primed for artificial intelligence applications such as price optimization, inventory management and fraud detection.

To align our approach to Panier Bleu’s strategic goals, we used Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform to accelerate and streamline project implementation. The data lake fed by this technology gives users the agility and flexibility they need to quickly extract more targeted data.
From an architectural standpoint, the preferred solutions include a physical and logical data flow chart. A minimum viable product (MVP), based on user input plus prioritized deliverable and schedule tracking, was also used to lay a strong foundation in the early stages of the project’s development.
